Baseball Finals, White Collar Division, Lobsters vs. Garters, Game #4

This was it. The Garters had their backs against the wall as they played the powerhouse Lobsters. If they lost here, they would be swept and the Lobsters would win the championship. The crowd was tense here in District C, hoping that the Garters could prolong the series.

In the bottom of the 1st, A.J. hit a homerun, giving the Garters a 1-0 lead. In the top of the 2nd, Kelly homered, tying the game up at 1. In the bottom of the 2nd, Geraldine doubled in a run, giving the Garters a 2-1 lead. In the top of the 3rd, the Lobsters answered right back: a single by Mike tied the game at 2. Josephina, the pitcher, balked and a run game home, making it 3-2 Lobsters. Ryan then singled, making it 4-2 Lobsters. Kevin grounded out, but a run scored, making it 5-2 Lobsters.

After the 20-minute break, play resumed. In the top of the 5th, Cody doubled home a run, making it 6-2 Lobsters. Kayla then replaced Josephina as pitcher. In the top of the 6th, Darnell homered, making it 7-2 Lobsters. Ryan doubled home a run, making it  8-2 Lobsters. Dustin grounded out, but a run scored, making it 9-2 Lobsters. Wadi then replaced Kayla as pitcher. In the bottom of the 6th, Paulina was injured running to 2nd base. Erin doubled home a run, making it 9-3 Lobsters. Rhianne homered, making it 9-6 Lobsters. Bobby replaced Jon as pitcher at that point.

After a 2-hour power outage happened, caused by a sudden surge due to the storm that was happening outside, play resumed. In the top of the 7th, Danielle replaced Kayla. In the bottom of the 7th, Matt replaced Bobby. Erin singled in a run, making it 9-7 Lobsters. The comeback was on! In the top of the 8th, Georgia replaced Danielle. Ryan doubled in a run, making it 10-7 Lobsters. In the bottom of the 8th, Andrew replaced Matt. In the bottom of the 9th, Joel replaced Andrew.

Try as they might, the Garters simply could not score in the bottom of the 9th. The Lobsters were the Champions of the White Collar Division! Ryan, with his 3 hits and 3 RBI, was the MVP of the game.

After the awards ceremony, both coaches had press conferences. The Garters' coach went first. "The battle of the sexes will resume next year," She said. "And we will win." The Lobsters' coach went next. "I'd like to congratulate the Garters on a well-played series," He said. "It was a really well-played series. I got nervous in the third game there. I hope to play them next year."
