Mutanatia Baseball League Coach Draft, Slate #2: Pearls

The commissioner of the league, Lady Portia, approached the podium again.

"For the second slate of the 2053 season, the Pearls select:

Pam Greely, Head Coach." Many boos. Pam was not known as being a very good coach.

"Horace Johnson, Level VI Coach." Applause erupted. Horace was known for preparing talent to go to the big leagues.

"Jasper Johnson, Level V Coach." Applause erupted. They had taken Horace's brother, so of course this would work well!

"Michael Kelly, Level IV Coach." No reaction. A relative unknown.

"Boris Michaelson, Level III Coach." Again, no reaction.

"Boehling Grasper, Level II Coach." Boos erupted. Boehling was not known for anything other than holding talent up, or so it seemed.

"And finally, Dwayne Gregory Level I Coach." No reaction.

Lady Portia paused, then said,
"The following offers are made for the main District C league team:

For the second offer of hitting coach, the Pearls offer Alan Z. a one-year, $100,000 contract." The crowd gasped. This was an overpayment to be sure.

"For the second offer of pitching coach, the Pearls offer Zeke Z. a two-year, $200,000 contact." Again, more gasps.

"This concludes tonight's draft. Join us tomorrow for the Oysters and the Terns. Good night."

The crowd murmured as they left.
