Baseball Semifinals, White Collar Division

(This game is drawing from Out of the Park Baseball 2013. All names and characters are mine, however; the results are what I got from the game)

It was a dark and stormy night with frigid air and it looked like it was going to snow in District C on January 5th, 2053. However, not to worry; the stadium was domed, and, in District C, home of the wealthy, seats were heated and there was no chance of winter getting into bother the players or the team.

As the Foxes took on the Coyotes live from the Coyotes' home stadium, the mood was tense. The Foxes led, 3 games to 2 as it started. The winner would go on to face the league champion of the non-DH league.

The action began slowly, but quickly picked up. After a walk and a hit batsman, the Foxes drew first blood with a single by their number 3 batter, Paul Singerelli. A pop-out later, and Adam Grummer hit a single to drive in another run. The Foxes were up 2-0, and it was just the first inning. The Coyotes' manager looked nervous as he paced back and forth. Gordon Tsaringa would ground into a double play to end the inning, much to the pitcher's relief.

Things went quiet until the bottom of the second, when the number 7 hitter, Ryan Denard knocked in a runner with the bases loaded. But the inning was just getting started. The next batter, Kelly Camille (yes, there were females playing in the baseball league) hit a grand slam to give the Coyotes a 5-2 lead. Now, it was the manager of the Foxes' turn to start pacing. The Coyotes manager sat down, a confident grin on his face.

Through 3 innings, it was the Foxes 2, the Coyotes 5. There would be, as tradition granted, a 40-minute break between the 3rd and 6th innings: time for citizens to catch up on news from the day. Between the intermissions, coaches were asked how they felt. The Foxes' coach nearly choked on his words when said he was feeling good. The Coyotes' coach said he was a little worried at first, but that his team should be able to keep the lead.

Time resumed after a brief power outage: one of the bugs that still had to be worked out was the fact that too many wireless devices at a time could overload the system, causing the power to go out. An announcement over the PA informed the spectators of that fact, and soon the problem was remedied.

There was no scoring from the 4th through the 6th innings. The Foxes' coach sounded nervous when asked if he thought he team could come back. "Yes," He said. "But we need to get things into high gear now." The Coyotes manager gave the trademark howl of the team and said they were going to win. Another 40 minute break came next.

In the top of the 9th, Gordon Tsaring hit a homerun with a no one on to make it a 5-3 game. Fans were on the edge of their seat. The Coyotes' manager now hopped off the bench and began to pace. The Foxes' manager crossed his fingers and narrowed his eyes, intent on the prize. 2 strikeouts later, and the Coyotes had won. The fans hugged each other in the stands and went home happy. Final score, 5-3. With that, the Foxes advanced to the White Collar Championship Series.

Elsewhere, in the lesser league of the White Collar division, the Brown Hawks tied the Silver Snakes in the series, winning their game, 5-4. They would get an unusual prime time game the following night.
