Mutant Hockey League, Fish, Game #44

(Drawing from NHL 2K11)

The Mutant Hockey League was a combination Mantis and Human venture. Mantises typically played the goalie while humans skated, played defense and tried to score. The Fish were no exception to the rule. Granted, they were an exceptional team with half the games completed in the season The Fishers were 34-7-2, giving them 70 points on the season. They were currently dealing with an injury: Trent, one of their leading scorers, would be out for a few weeks. Their leading scorer was Kyle, who had 59 of the team's 380 goals. Additionally, their leading defenseman was 216 hits. They were coached by a half-mantis/half-human hybrid named Harry Bond. Before the game, he said he was quite confident about his team.

Earlier in the week, the Fish had traded one of their defensemen, Jeff, to the Peaches for a defenseman named Lubomir. Most Fish fans were happy about that. In addition, Chromantum, the team's regular goalie, was back in the lineup after 3 weeks' rest.

In District B, home of the business sector, mantises and humans alike took their seat to watch the Fish take on the Mountains in the Mountains' home stadium. The puck dropped, and away they went.

In the 1st period, a penalty for interference was called on Tuomo. Shortly after that, the same penalty was called on T.J. The penalty was successfully killed! At the intermission, Harry Bond was heard to say, "Guys, defensively, talk amongst yourself and figure out which one of you is going to go after the guy with the puck and which of you is going to be covering the others."

In the 3rd period, at 0:45, Pavol scored, his 14tth, to bring the score to 5-4 Fish. At 11:07, T.J. scored, his 2nd (he is the replacement for Trent) making it 6-4 Fish. At 13:51, Kyle scored, his 60th, making it 7-4 Fish. Kyle would repeat this performance at 16:06 to make it 8-4 Fish with his 61st goal on the season. Tuomo got nailed with another interference penalty with one minute to go.

The Fish closed it out to win, 8-4.

The Fish took a total of 56 shots. Their shooting percentage was 14.2% Tuomo and Kyle combined to have the most goals scored in that game, with 2. The Mountains scored 4 ties on 44 attempts, meaning their shooting percentage was 10.1%.
