Mutant Hockey League, Fish, Game #45

It was time for game #45 of the hockey season for the Fish. 37 games left and their season would be over. Today, they were playing on the road against the Asteroids. The Fish were 35-7-2, while the Asteroids were 22-17-4. The puck dropped, and they were on their way.

In the 1st period,  at 6:12, Slava was nailed for interference for the Fish. At 6:31, Pavel scored the first goal of the game for the Asteroids, his 22nd. At 13:24, the Fish answered right back to tie it at 1 thanks to Kyle, who scored his 62nd goal. Tuomo and Stephane got into a fight shortly after. Jamie scored to make it 2-1 Asteroids at 17:34, his 14th. He quickly followed up with his second goal, his 15th, at 17:52, making it 3-1 Asteroids. Derek and Colby got tangled up in a fight shortly thereafter. The Asteroids took 15 shots, scoring 3 times. The Fish shot 18 times and only got one goal. The score was 3-1 going into the intermission.

At the intermission, the coach was heard to say, "Guys? The hell was that? I don't want any excuses. We will play better after the break." It was the angriest he'd been in a while.

In the second period, nearly right out of the gate at 1:04, Kyle scored his second goal of the game, his 63rd, making it 3-2 Asteroids. At 6:46, Jamie netted his hat trick, his 16th, and made it 4-2 Asteroids. A while later, Tuomo and Dustin got into a fight. At 12:40, Joe scored, his 24th, making it 4-3 Asteroids. Right after that, Tyler and Adtian got into a fight. The Asteroids took 8 shots, while the Fish took 15. The Fish scored twice, while the Asteroids scored once. The score was 4-3 going into the intermission.

At the intermission, the coach was heard to say, "I'm feeling confident, however, first thing's first. Get the tie, then go after the win."

In the third period, at 1:22, a hooking penalty was called on Dustin. The Fish had a power play and were able to score on the power play at 2:34, with Kyle's hat trick goal, his 64th. The game had been tied and the race to victory, for either side was on. At 5:27, Ethan scored, and it was 5-4 Asteroids. Will 17:30 gone by, Joe scored, his 25th, making it tied at 5! With only 9.6 seconds on the clock, Loui scored, making it 6-5 Asteroids. The Fish called timeout. This would be their last chance.

The final score was 6-5, Asteroids. Since this was a losing effort, we here as MSN prefer to ignore any stars. Kyle scored the most goals and got his hat trick and is our player of the game. They will play again tomorrow.

The coach had his usual press conference in which he stated, "In February, you will know where our goalie situation stands." It sounded like he might demote Chromantum to second-string.
